Based in Carrboro, NC, Hickory Hounds has been helping humans and canines throughout the Triangle since 2011.
We have extensive experience rehabilitating challenging dogs of all ages that exhibit excitability, fear, anxiety, aggression, and other unwanted behavior.
In addition to more than a decade of professional experience with dogs, our trainer Mike Arnold has completed Duke University's course in Dog Emotion and Cognition, taught by Brian Hare, a leading evolutionary anthropologist and canine cognition expert.
Our priority is your dog's safety, happiness and well-being.
Our pack is our family. When your dog is in our care, we treat them as one of our own.
We are licensed, bonded and insured.
Mike and Annie, the co-owners of Hickory Hounds, are both members of the International Association of Canine Professionals, which is dedicated to the education, development and support of dog training professionals world-wide.

Services
private training sessions
We come to your home to assess your dog's behavior and training needs. With this service, you and your dog will learn strategies to improve your relationship with each other. Our technique emphasizes a holistic approach to dog training that is based on your dog's inherent instincts and abilities. The first session is usually two hours long.
A travel fee of $0.625/mile will apply to locations beyond 10 miles from our Carrboro base.
PUPPY TRAINING
We offer our private training sessions in your home tailored to the needs of puppies. We help you understand, manage and direct your puppy’s energy by guiding you through the developmental stages of a growing dog. Starting early ensures that you and your dog have the best foundation for a great relationship going forward.
A travel fee of $0.625/mile will apply to locations beyond 10 miles from our Carrboro base.
PACKWALKS
You may have seen us around town on local streets and trails with a large pack of dogs. An hour long walk is a service offered only after your dog has been through a training with us, emphasizing leash skills and socialization.
Packwalks are offered to clients in Chapel Hill and Carrboro only.
